Monstera is a genus of roughly 50 to 60 species of evergreen, tropical flowering plants in the arum family (Araceae), native to the Americas. They are defined by a climbing growth habit, a specialized jointed leaf stem, aerial roots, and mature leaves that frequently feature natural fenestrations.
